Congress Activities
Two fundamental themes have been set for the Congress :
• CROATIA'S CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY ACTIVITIES AIMED AT MEETING EU ACCESSION REQUIREMENTS
• IMPLEMENTATION OF NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS AND MOTORWAYS IN CROATIA
In addition to papers relating to these two fundamental themes, the 2004 Congress, as a traditional
gathering for Croatian builders, will also concentrate on other issues of significance to the development of Croatian
civil engineering and its influence on the overall development of Croatia, including papers relating to various
professional and research-oriented themes.
All papers will be grouped together in the Congress Proceedings, which will be
distributed to Congress participants during registration. In addition to Croatian builders, the Congress
will also be attended by the representatives of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and, according to
preliminary information, by a number of foreign attendants, with ten papers already registered for the Congress.
During the Congress, the work will be organized in form of:
• plenary sessions
• thematic gatherings - round tables
Introductory presentations about main themes of the Congress, and brief accounts of papers submitted by participants from other countries, will be delivered during plenary sessions.
Individual papers will not be presented due to limited time and the fact that all papers will be included in the Congress Proceedings. However, papers will be grouped by theme and presented collectively.
The official language of the Congress will be Croatian. Translation from English, German, French and Russian languages will be provided for presentations given by foreign participants.
Discussions organized in the form of three round tables will focus on the following themes:
a) Implementation of the Building Law
b) Education of building professionals
c) Delivery of approvals for realization of construction activities.
During the work of the Congress, various video and movie presentations will be used to show capabilities of domestic and foreign companies. Company exhibitions will be staged at a representative indoor space of the hotel, where companies, co-organizers and sponsors will have an opportunity to present their capabilities and products.
A half day excursion to Dubrovnik will also be organized in the scope of the Congress. In addition to the visit to the old town of Dubrovnik, this excursion also features a cultural entertainment event. The excursion will be followed by a cocktail party.
The Congress Dinner for all participants and guests will be organized on Friday April 23, after the end of the working sessions.
Depending on the interest of Congress participants, two whole day excursions will be organized on Saturday, April 24. A more detailed information about these excursions is given in the Application Form enclosed to this announcement.
