Themes

Two fundamental themes of interest to all participants have been defined for this Congress:

• CROATIA'S CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY ACTIVITIES AIMED AT MEETING EU ACCESSION REQUIREMENTS

• IMPLEMENTATION OF NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS AND MOTORWAYS IN CROATIA

As the Congress 2004 will deal with various issues relating to the development of Croatian construction industry, and its influence on the overall development of Croatia, these fundamental themes have been further complemented with individual themes, which are either directly or indirectly related to the fundametntal themes:

• Results of reconstruction activities and their effect on local and national development

• Influence of construction industry on Croatian economy

• Influence of Croatia's accession to EU on Croatian construction industry

• Architectural heritage and territorial management

• Education of civil engineers and its harmonization with conditions prevailing in EU

• Legal system and its implementation in Croatia's construction industry

• Activities and interaction among construction industry organizations and interest groups

Foreign participants, particularly those coming from countries already forming part of the EU, will be expected to present their positive experience, but should also point to errors that are to be avoided. Adequate contribution is also expected from countries which are soon to become members of the EU or are currently, just like Croatia, at the stage of fulfilling EU accession requirements.
