Air in water supply pipelines

Marijan Habajec

Abstract

Harmful action of air pockets in water supply pipelines is analyzed in broad terms. Possibilities for reducing harmful air activity in pipelines and water supply systems are presented. The removal of air in terms of pipeline diameter and speed by which pipes are filled with water is considered, and protection measures based on practical research and past experience are presented. Measures against cavitation, as used in the inspection and maintenance of pipeline and water supply systems, are formulated.
