Behavior of laterally restrained thin-walled open section beams

Diana Šimić

Abstract

Theoretical and experimental study of laterally restrained thin-walled open section beams is presented. A special emphasis is placed on Z-section beams laterally restrained along the flange with trapezoidal steel sheeting. The behavior of the laterally restrained thin-walled beam was determined by modeling its unrestrained flange as a beam on an elastic base. In this procedure, the rotational spring was replaced with lateral linear spring with stiffness corresponding to that of the elastic base.
