Social justifications for building the Central Water Treatment Plant in the City of Zagreb

Stanislav Tedeschi

Abstract

In his presentation of the social reasons justifying construction of the central water treatment plant in the city of Zagreb, the author asserts that such construction is first of all a legal obligation and that improvement, preservation and protection of water also arises from international commitments of the Republic of Croatia. Benefits generated by the avoidance of damage due to the Sava river pollution, as well as those arising from the avoidance of environmental damage, are also analyzed. Construction risks due to unforeseen accidents are also estimated.
