Nonlinear static seismic analysis of structures

Saša Mitrović, Mehmed Čaušević

Abstract

Static and dynamic methods of nonlinear seismic analysis of structures, developed over the past decade, and incorporated in European and American seismic regulations, are presented. These methods are the nonlinear static method N2 (Eurocode 8), the nonlinear static procedure NSP (FEMA 356), and the revised capacity spectrum method CSM (FEMA 440). The methods are illustrated by an example of an eight-storey building with reinforced-concrete frames, and the results obtained are compared.
