Steel structure design based on European prestandards

Abstract

The design of steel lighting posts for the stadium in Široki Brijeg, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is presented. The load is calculated according to the Eurocode 1 (EC1) for the wind load, and the structure is dimensioned according to EC3 provisions. In the determination of wind force, the designers used the map proposal that is an integral part of the national document (DDP) for the implementation of this prestandard in Croatia. The wind action was also calculated in accordance with the applicable Regulations. This has provided lower force values when compared to values based on EC3 and DDP.
