Reliability of short seismic ties of steel frame structures

Abstract

Results obtained by studying the level of reliability of short seismic ties, with different numbers of web braces, are presented.The analysis was made using the finite element method and laboratory testing, and involved four series of samples, each with four nominally similar samples.Reliability indices, obtained by probabilistic analysis, were compared with standard values for the corresponding category of reliability.It was established that the reliability index is mostly influenced by web thickness and transverse force action.
