Analysis of Husino landslide in Tuzla and improvement possibilities

Ibrahim Jašarević, Željko Lebo

Abstract

Authors describe the first occurrence, current condition and improvement options for the huge Husino landslide in Tuzla which, given the quantity and spread of displaced material, ranks among the biggest landslides in Europe. Considering its limit stability, the landslide poses a direct threat to infrastructure facilities (road and railway line) and to the nearby thermal power station "Tuzla". Appropriate geotechnical testing in laboratory was conducted and, following the analysis of results, a landslide improvement proposal with stability calculations was given.
