High strength reinforced concrete elements subjected to bending

Marijan Skazlić, Ivan Tomičić

Abstract

Current knowledge about the properties, technology and structure of high strength concrete is presented. Significant parameters needed in the analysis of load-bearing, ductile and acceptable reinforced-concrete elements made of such concrete and subjected to bending, with longitudinal force or without this force, are considered. These parameters are: design compressive stress diagram, ductility, deflection, and crack width restraint. The results are compared with values for normal strength concrete. The use of high strength concrete is recommended.
