Modelling synthetic data series for monthly precipitation

Abstract

A novel (empirical-stochastic) approach to the modelling of synthetic series of monthly precipitation data has been developed. Data collected from several precipitation stations were used in the analysis and verification of the new model. The results were compared with the originally measured time series by means of a number of parametric tests sensitive to individual distribution-related properties of the registered and generated data. The results have shown that the proposed model may be considered acceptable.
